Hello & Welcome to my little patch of the blogosphere...
It's so lovely to meet you!

My name is Em. I'm an Aussie living on the Gold Coast in the sunny state of Queensland. I am married to Daniel and we have one cheeky kidlet called Tige. He is our ever expanding universe and will often be the main subject in my scrapbook projects, because wellllll, I just can't get enough of him...hehe!

I have always loved art. Printmaking was my first love when I attended art school in the late 80's early 90's. Unfortunately over the years I found myself less and less involved in exploring my creative side as work life took over.

After embarking on a career in retail marketing I began to rediscover life drawing, monoprinting and was also dabbling in photography again. It was through my love of photography and photoshop that I discovered the world of digital art. I realised that more and more artists were exploring this new genre and producing bodies of work that crossed over into the digital media arena and really spurred my curiosity more than anything had before and so began my lil love affair with digital design.

I once heard a saying 'When a person dies, a library closes.' This really resonates with me because it's such a powerful reminder that documenting your life and those around you is like rendering little glimpses into another time for future generations, each one just like a teeny time capsule. For me scrapbooking has been the perfect tool to encapsulate that. An immense part of my daily life is spent documenting the memories of my family, friends & our adventures. No matter how insignificant they may seem the highs and lows and all those precious moments in between are what I want to capture and love the process of designing elements and papers to help convey them.

I feel incredibly blessed that this hobby has opened many doors for me as a freelance digital designer.  I’m working toward re-opening my store in the very near future. The Nifty Pixel will be back with lots of new and exciting products, so stay tuned!

I have also contributed on occassions to numerous overseas and domestic publications as a digital expert writing articles and sharing designer tips. I have also created graphics packs for print publications and enjoyed being a creative team member for a number of other designers, challenge sites and stores which really has been an extraordinary experience. When I am not working I get to play with some of my favourite designers products too, exploring more of my creative side and meeting some wonderful people along the way!
